artist. writer. believer.
My artwork expresses two different transitions that have happened in my life; my psychological transformation from dealing with a lifetime of schizophrenia and depression, and the transformation of my artwork through my six years of undergoing art therapy.
The themes that are present in my work are that of solitude and self-exploration. Without having created this artwork, I would have succumbed to my depression and given in to my suicidal ideations. This body of work represents my various explorations as I have seen them. It is through the eyes of the diseased that one learns how a human being copes with such obstacles.
The materials I use are photography, mixed media, oil, and acrylic paintings. While not all of my materials are the same, each piece is connected with the recurring theme of being human and finding what it is we have to do to stay alive. My paintings are observations from life, human still-lives, and abstract thoughts.
My arrangements are designed to allow the viewer to view my life from two different transitions that i have undergone. As the viewer enters the world of my psychological transformation, they will simultaneously see how I have had to cope with such obstacles through the progression of my art that was done in therapy.
My artwork is about finding life in the most abstract places: small paper napkins, etchings on buildings, and random graffiti.
